“Understanding the Kingdom of God” Lesson 18 – The Place of Law and Deeds

The function of law within a nation is not to grant citizenship, but to guide the behavior of the citizens and define what is acceptable conduct to assure peace and order. However, keeping the law does not guarantee citizenship. God’s law provides a guide for conduct and a definition of acceptable behavior toward the goal of living eternally. However, that adherence to the law of God does not equate to citizenship. Citizenship is a separate issue. In order to become a citizen there is a legal process. Heaven has such a process. One must be born-again to enter into the Kingdom as a citizen. There is no other way to successfully migrate from this world to Heaven. If one is not born-again in this life, they do not have Kingdom citizenship regardless of how sincere or good a person they are. We must be born-again to enter into the Kingdom of God; and we must align with God’s stated rules of conduct to remain eligible to enter Heaven after this life is over.
