“Understanding the Kingdom of God” Lesson 53 – Jesus was Born a King
Jesus was a King because He was born a King. It was His birthright. As previously stated, He was never elected and therefore He can never be voted out of power.
Proof is validated in the circumstances shortly after His birth. When He was but a toddler, three wise kings came bearing Him gifts. The gifts were worthy of a King. They brought Him gold, frankincense, and myrrh. At that time the myrrh was worth ten times its weight in gold.
All too often people focus on the poverty of Jesus. He was not a poor man. The gifts presented by the three kings made Him a wealthy man. What He or His parents did with it we do not know, but it was a substantial amount of wealth. We know that it sustained them in their sojourn into Egypt.
Why did those kings do that? They honored the kingdom custom between kingdoms. One always brings a gift worthy of a King when they enter his presence.
