“Understanding the Kingdom of God” Lesson 3 – The Kingdom and the Church
Dr. Fred Childs shares Lesson 3 in the “Understanding the Kingdom of God” series. This lesson addresses the Kingdom and the Church and how they interrelate. The Kingdom of God is not a new concept, but rather it is the original concept.
The Kingdom of God includes the extension of God’s rule or dominion in the earth. Jesus spent His time on earth preaching and emphasizing the Gospel of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God has been from the beginning and will be eternally and with end. The Kingdom is 100% spiritual.
The Church is the body of born-again believers whom God has placed His Holy Spirit within. The Church operates in the authority of the name of Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit and Word. However, the Church is temporary. It began of the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 and will end at the last day with the last trumpet. The saved shall then forever be with the Lord and His Kingdom shall have no end.
The Kingdom is not a new concept. The Church became a new concept and functions on earth under the umbrella of the Kingdom of God. It’s mission is to expand the Kingdom of God by propagating the Gospel of the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
