“Understanding the Kingdom of God” Lesson 48 – The Keys to the Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is spiritual, but God’s Spirit interacts with people. The Word of God has numerous truths within its pages. These truths are keys. Spiritual keys open spiritual doors. God’s people use keys to operate in Kingdom ministry.

One such key was promised in the interactions that ensued when Jesus questioned His disciples about His identity.

Matthew 16:13-16 records the discussion,

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Simon Peter stated the answer Jesus was hoping for, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,”. Peter’s revelation of the Mighty God manifest in flesh opened an opportunity for God to deliver unto him what He referred to as the keys to the Kingdom.

This lesson explores the meaning of the keys to the Kingdom of God.
